Old Yeller Turned 500,000 Miles!

That's right, Old Yeller hit the milestone! He turned 500,000 miles on October 2, 2007 at 7:20am. Congratulations to Kerry Smith of Calgary, Alberta on guessing the right date. To celebrate, we will be hosting a party at our gallery, where Kerry and Old Yeller will be the special guests in attendance. Thank you to all who took part in the contest, it sure was fun. We're looking forward to seeing you all at the party October 21, 3pm to 6pm.

Workshops

Learn the principles of winter photography with master photographer Jim Steinberg. This course will include an evening of classroom work with a day of photography in the field and end with a critique session which will allow students to see and talk about their results. Topics covered will include composition, proper exposure for snow and dealing with winter photography conditions. This class in oriented towards intermediate and advanced photographers. Dates for the workshop are January 18, 19 and 21. To sign up or for additional information, contact Colorado Mountain College.

Our 2007 Calendars are Number One Again!!!

The National and World Calendar Awards, presented by the National Calendar Marketing Association, are open to all publishers worldwide wishing to enter their calendars for the annual awards. Each year more than 2000 calendars are submitted for judging. This year, Jim Steinberg and Portfolio Publications received first place and the Gold Award in the national and world categories for Best Scenic Photography in an engagement calendar, first place and the Gold Award in the world category for Best Scenic Photography in a wall calendar. This marks the seventh year in a row that Jim Steinberg and Portfolio Publications have been honored by the Association for their work. Calendars are judged on the quality of design, photography, artwork and graphics, as well as originality. Portfolio Publications (our publications division) and the Portfolio Collection (our gallery) are located in Steamboat Springs. He has been producing fine art nature photography for over 30 years and publishing calendars and note cards since 1993, and most recently photographic travel books. Steinberg¹s work has appeared in National Geographic, Nature¹s Best, Sierra Club, Backpacker, Life, Earth, Nature Conservancy, Discover, National Parks, Newsweek, U.S. News & World Report, Scientific American, as well as many other mediums.
